About Us

Welcome to Springfield Elementary

From the Desk of Mrs. Adams

Springfield is well on its way to an extraordinary educational journey, becoming a place of rigorous and high level learning where academic talents of all students are nurtured and developed. This curriculum infused program for English Language Arts, Mathematics, and Science is through The William and Mary College for Gifted & Talented Students. Ongoing Professional Development training, through The College of Charleston's Education Department, will serve to enhance our skills at becoming Talent Scouts identifying, cultivating, and nurturing a school of gifted and talented students!

Springfield is in its third year of receiving Title I supplemental academic assistance to ensure all students have a fair, equal and significant opportunity to obtain a high quality education and reach, at a minimum, proficiency on challenging State Academic Achievement Standards and State Academic Assessments. To support student achievement in the areas of reading and math for the 2016-2017 school year, the supplemental funds of $215,975 received will provide a full time Math/Coach Interventionist, Computer Lab Assistant, Social Worker, and Intervention Coaches. Professional Development opportunities for teachers will be provided. Classroom libraries will continue to be expanded and new books will be provided to the Media Center to ensure all students have equal access to appropriately challenging materials. A copy of the current Title I Plan can be found in the front office along with a suggestion box for your input or feedback. We welcome your feedback.

School climate is essential to learning. Springfield will enter its eighth year as a Positive Behavior Intervention Support School. This initiative, coupled with Response To Intervention, allows positive and effective educational and behavioral support for all students. The PBIS School Team meets monthly and serves as a catalyst to ensure consistency with school-wide expectations.

Volunteers are needed more than ever in the classrooms, planned school wide activities, and field trips. Please be sure that a new volunteer application is completed and approved for this school year.

We need your support! It will be a pleasure and an honor to meet each of you. Please feel free to call, email or visit with your ideas, suggestions or concerns. Your input is important to me and is an integral part in all that we do.
